Friends,

I am looking forward to this years exploration of visibility in the
classes and workshops. Below are the questions I suggested we explore
in the last newsletter. Here are some of my insights at this time. I
look forward to hearing what you notice when you consider these
questions.

* What does it mean to be seen?
* What are the energetic patterns that we have in place that keep us
  from being visible?
* How can we begin to be visible to ourselves?
* How can we use successes and failures as a way to cultivate visibility
  with dignity and spiritual confidence?

================================================================

* What does it mean to be seen?

I have been examining the patterns of resistance and excitement that
arise when I begin to pay attention to my responses as I am working
with this inquiry. I notice that when I encourage myself to extend a
little more presence out into the world I feel a rush of energy. As a
result I become more aware of the contrast when I withdraw my energy
through self-consciousness or doubt.

* What are the energetic patterns that we have in place that keep us
  from being visible?

When my attention leaves awareness of the present moment and I focus
on the future or past some of my energy disconnects from my body I
loose awareness of my presence, my sense of being here and
now. Fantasizing and planning are ways I shift energy away from my
body to an external focus.

* How can we begin to be visible to ourselves?

Focusing our attention on the vertical quality of ground and the
dignity of the upright posture I establish center as a core of energy
that includes the entire body. It is from this vertical core of life
force that I sense myself as a presence in the world.

* How can we use successes and failures as a way to cultivate visibility
  with dignity and spiritual confidence?

The centering practice establishes a stable reference point from which
to accept difficult and positive emotions allowing them to be just as
they are. When I do this even for a few seconds without grasping or
rejecting my experience I am increasing my tolerance for live and my
capacity for visibility.
